Next year’s ICC Champions Trophy might not see the Indian cricket team visiting Pakistan. As a result, there are talks about either shifting the venue or adopting a hybrid model for the tournament.
Team India might not travel to Pakistan in near future. Although The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi on monday reportedly said that they would think to send Pakistan Cricket team to India for a bilateral series if they send their team to Pakistan for Champions trophy. However, sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said, “Forget bilateral series…Team India may not even travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. There might be a change of venue, s hybrid model is also possible.”
“The Indian boards would need permission from the government of India to travel , they said that currently our relation is not good with Pakistan” ” sources told IANS.
Last time Pakistan and India played bilateral series?
Champion Trophy is an ICC event, So it would be difficult call from India but they cannot do anything without the permission or green signal from government. India and Pakistan last played a bilateral limited-overs series in 2012-13, when Pakistan visited India. However in recent interview the Captain of Indian cricket team Rohit Sharma showed his desire to play test series against Pakistan.
Last year, India refused to send its team to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan and eventually, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had to adopt a hybrid model for the event which was split with a vast majority of the matches being organised in Sri Lanka.
India dragging politics in Cricket:
I think politics should be a side India should come to to Pakistan as we know that there is no security issues in Pakistan, if past few years many teams visited Pakistan like New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England and many more. Let us put politics aside and enjoy cricket.
